I began my orchestra career at the age of 12, as a harpist in the Utah Youth Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Barbara Scowcroft. In the following years I performed with and soon became Principal Harpist for the Murray Symphony, under the direction of the late Clint Frohm. While at Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY I was a member of Eastman School Symphony Orchestra and Eastman Philharmonic under the direction of Neil Varon, and Eastman Wind Orchestra and Eastman Wind Ensemble under the direction of Mark Scatterday.
Currently, I am the Principal Harpist for the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra in Lancaster, PA. I also frequently play with many different orchestras and chamber groups in the Central New York and Northern Pennsylvania area. These include; Symphor!a in Syracuse, NY, Ithaca College and Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes in Corning, NY, Binghamton Philharmonic and Tri-Cities Opera in Binghamton, NY, Erie Chamber Orchestra in Erie, PA, Merry-Go-Round Playhouse in Auburn, NY, and the Endless Mountain Music Festival in Wellsboro, PA.
I am an active and enthusiastic member of the B Sharp Music Club, and love performing the harp with other Utica musicians. In March of 2015 my sister, Brittany Hart DeYoung and I, premiered our new duo, Convergence Harp Duo, in which we perform both classical and modern pieces written for two harps.
I love orchestral and chamber music, and enjoy the feeling of being a part of a larger group. Thank you for taking the time to consider me and I hope that I may have the pleasure of working with you soon!
